IN DEFENSE OF BREADTH AND TEXT MESSAGES

People, and not just old ones, have voiced a concern about "easy communication".
Are genuine personal interactions and pencil-written notes really being bullied by text messages
and emails and g-chats and tweets and hashtags and facebooks? Does a plateau or a rhizome
really insult a mountain or a fjord? Probably not, right? Maybe our expanding breadth of shallow
communication is just frontiering new ground for deep digging.
